SEO in the Age of AI: How to Optimize Your Therapy Website
What's changed, what still matters, and how I'm building websites in today’s digital world.
The Big Shift
Your next client might not Google you. Or they might, and never click a single link. More and more people are typing their questions into AI engines (like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or Perplexity) or relying on Google's summaries and AI results for a quick answer instead of sorting through a long list of search results. And they tend to search in one of two ways.
1.
The client who doesn't have the words yet:
"why cant i fall asleep. my brain keeps replaying conversations on repeat. I keep thinking about what i said or what i should have said. how do i make it stop"
They never typed the word "therapist." But a few messages later, the AI suggests talking with someone who works with anxiety and OCD, and recommends a few local therapists. Your website helps decide whether one of them is you.
2.
The client who knows exactly what they want:
"EMDR therapist in Fort Collins who takes Aetna, sees clients in person, has at least 10 years of experience, and is LGBTQIA+ affirming"
They get a short list of names. If your website doesn't clearly say those things, you're not on it.
Why I'm Teaching This Class
Hi, I'm Alexis! I'm a licensed therapist in private practice, but these days most of my time goes to Healing Hearts Creative, where I help therapists and psychologists build websites that get found and feel like them.
Wearing both hats, I've had countless conversations with practice owners about marketing, and lately they sound different:
Seasoned clinicians and group practice owners who've been doing this 20+ years and never had to market. Until now.
Therapists early in private practice, trying to grow a caseload but not sure where to start.
Practice owners still getting inquiries, but worried about what's ahead and wanting to prepare now.
Different stages, same questions. How do I improve SEO on my website? Is my website invisible to ChatGPT? I’m getting traffic, but no inquiries. How do I change that? How do I help more people find my website? Should I still be blogging? Do I need to be on social media?
These are all great questions, and they deserve more than a rushed answer at the end of a consultation. So I built this workshop.
