Researching Keywords & Clarifying Your Niche
If you want to dig even deeper into trends, data, and keyword strategy, here are some helpful resources.
-
If you’re writing your own copy and not sure where to begin, a great place to start is simply by heading to Google. Try typing in your desired niche—like “trauma therapy in Austin” or “parent coaching for teens”—and take a look at what comes up. Notice the words and phrases the top-ranking practices are using, both in their page titles (what you see in the search results) and on their actual website pages. What language keeps repeating? What feels clear, relatable, or compelling to you?
This kind of research can give you insight into both what people are searching for and how similar businesses are describing their work.
-
Google Trends – See what topics and terms are trending over time
Google Keyword Planner – Explore search volume and keyword ideas (you’ll need a free Google Ads account)
SEMRush – A robust SEO and keyword research tool (great for advanced research)
Moz Keyword Explorer – Another option for exploring keywords and analyzing competition
